Annotation The article shows that among the 144 species of flowering plants included into the «Red Book of the Chita Oblast and Aginsky Buryat Autonomous Okrug», 39 species are early flowering plants. There is a large group of relict plants (19 species). Eight species of the rare plants (Atragene macropetala, Aquilegia leptoceras, Atraphaxis frutescens, Euphorbia karoi, Paeonia anomalia, Pulmonaria mollis, Rhamnus piesjaukovae, Rhamnus erythroxylon) have been found as a result of expedition research. They are recommended to be included in the next edition of the «Red Book of the Zabaikalsky Krai». The state natural landscape reserve of regional significance called Relict Oaks has been established to preserve rare species in the south-eastern part of the Zabaikalsky Krai, in the Gazimur, the Argun, and the Uryumkan interfluves. Specialists recommend creating two specially protected wildlife areas in the south-western part of the krai, in the Chikoi River basin.
