Annotation The countries of Inner Asia with intracontinental economical-geographical position, carry the biggest part of loads by land. Land transport is more expensive than shipping; it reduces the competitiveness of continental countries in comparison with seafaring countries. The borderland interaction of Inner Asia countries can be a softening mechanism of their continentality (remoteness from year round navigation ports), raising their competitiveness and overcoming the economic asymmetry between them and seafaring countries.
Key words continentality, economic asymmetry, Inner Asia, borderland interaction.
