The article deals with the phenomenon of metaphorization in modern Russian prose
which is a distinctive feature of the modern Russian-speaking literature. A metaphorical
verbal chain is defined as a concept. Analyzing Lyudmila Ulitskaya stories the author
comes to the conclusion that a metaphorical verbal chain is one of the means of the artistic
image creation in fiction.
