The paper is devoted to some representatives of Russian medicine of the 19th century –
M. Ya. Mudrov, F. P. Gaaz, N. I. Pirogov, V. A. Manassein. In the author’s opinion, the life,
activity and works of these and other Russian doctors-humanists, whose names are not
mentioned in the article, present the most rich source of the shaping the Russian type of
bioethics.
