The paper defines the notion of “value compatibility” of the group as a constituent of the group compatibility.
The author differentiates nine personality types according to the theoretical model of personality values.
He offers a criterion to determine personality types and proves empirically that first-year students specializing in
engineering have mostly shown three predominant personality types. The author studies personality values with
the help of his original test that meets the requirements of psychological diagnostics. The results of the correlation
analysis show that values compatibility is connected with social and psychological group characteristics collected
in sociometric research. The author shows the dynamics of students’ value compatibility during university training
period. Sociometric preferences tend to have not only emotional but also value grounding.
