Annotation The article observes modern Russian prose traditions. The author compares the textual composition and the linguistic composition of the 1920s-1930s (based on Boris Pilnyak’s prose) with that of the beginning of the 21st century (based on Denis Gutsko’s prose). Сompositional traditions of the texts reflect the development of realism literature. The author considers some issues of the linguistic composition, including examples of its modifications and components. The paper analyzes intertextual relations, compositional inserts, compositional breaks and graphical means. The author concludes that modern prose develops realistic traditions in the textual composition and combines traditions and innovations.
