been the subject of systematic linguistic analysis yet. This work is the first semantic and grammatical
analysis of christening ceremony vocabulary in Kildin dialect of the Sámi language. On the basis of
semantic affinity of the terms, the study distinguishes the following lexical-semantic groups: names
of the child; names of the persons connected with the ceremony of christening a child; names of
the attributes connected with christening a child; names of the actions connected with christening a
child. During field practices the author of this paper collected lexical materials which had not been
registered in modern dictionaries of the Sámi language.
