Annotation The article examines the level of Buryat high school students’ proficiency in the Russian language. The author of the article pays much attention to the number of words used in dialogues and monologues by non-Russian learners performing tasks in their non-mother tongue. The study reveals that children of the ethnic school have a fluent command of dialogue and monologue forms of the Russian speech. However, the detailed analysis of the learners’ communicative skills finds out that Buryat children’s variant of Russian is characterized by numerous mistakes. The author suggests teaching Russian and Buryat children in international communities where they can freely communicate with each other out of class. Suchlike conditions for collaborative communication of children are presented in classes and schools for children of different nationalities.
