Annotation This article discusses the dynamics of the pirate movement on the example of the Pirate International, the Pirate Party of Sweden and pirate organizations in Russia. It analyzes the current state of the international pirate movement, the degree of integration of pirate organizations, the number of pirate parties and their status in international organizations, the structure of the Pirate International. The paper explains the reasons for success of the first pirate political organization (the Pirate Party of Sweden), identifies the prospects of its development and the factors that led to the party’s crisis. The authors emphasize the main factors influencing the rise in pirates’ popularity, the main vectors of pirate ideology and the problem of institutionalization of pirate parties. It describes the dynamics and the main development stages of Russian pirate organizations and identifies the basic ideological contradictions among Russian pirates. The authors conclude about the dominance of the Pirate Party of Russia in the spectrum of domestic pirate organizations and outline the basic vectors of the political course of the pirate movement.
