The socio-axiological role of bioethics in modern society is reflected in the formation of “axiology
of life” – a hierarchically organized system of values, the principal of which is human life, and
subordinate ones fill life with meaning, make it a full and give us strength and motivation to live (health
and well-being, freedom and dignity, justice and mercy, etc). By cultivating meaningful life values, bioethics
contributes to the process of humanization of modern science and healthcare. The author notes
that bioethics emerged from the needs of society and individuals to protect themselves from potentially
dangerous things that are associated with the development of modern science.
