This paper deals with the role of Parchin literature in the scholastic development of Buddhist scholar in the monastic culture of Inner Asia. The DB for this study are the “Chos grwa collection” of the Center of Oriental manuscripts and xylographs (IMBT SB RAS) and traditional bibliographic guides “dkar chag” of the largest Buddhist centers of Buryatia (the 19th – early 20th). The article fixed the fact that Buryat monasteries in scholastic education followed the standard rule – studied two main “root” texts: “Decoration of understanding” of Maytreyanathi (Asanga) and “Comment on Decoration...” of Haribhadra. Nevertheless, in addition to those texts from Danjur (Buddhist scholastic canon) in Parchin repertoire of a Buryat scholar there were the primary sources of Vidgnyanavada section (the theory of “Consciousness – Only”) [sems tsam]. In the collection there are works of the great
Tibetan scholar Budon Rinchendub from Jonan School. This fact indicates that the system
of scholastic education of the Buryat monasteries had a tradition of referring to General
Tibetan (Prajna-paramita) heritage preceding the Geluk.
