| Annotation |
The article considers the problem of demand of professional sociologists at the regional level.
There are arguments about the growing needs of modern society in sociological knowledge, in
connection with global change in all its spheres: economic, political, social. The author analyzes
the opinion of graduates and students-sociologists about demand and prospects of the profession
of sociologist in the future, and also the data of procurement of the Federal employment service to
clarify the possibility of employment of graduates-sociologists as in Zabaikalsky Krai and beyond.
The author reveals and substantiates the necessity of a change of attitude to the profession from
the public. According to the results of the study it is showed the relevance and the prospects of the
profession of sociologist from the point of view of its significance for the functioning of any social
fields, but not in demand in contemporary employers. And c the idea that from the point of view of
popularity and prestige of sociology as a profession with a rather high rating of popularity in the
modern society is confirmed, and it is underestimated at the regional level, not only in Zabaikalsky
Krai, but in the all-Russian scale.
