Annotation During the period of globalization the role of foreign language, as a mean of cross-cultural communication with representatives of other cultures, increases. The current state of society finds reflection in education system and imposes some new requirements to training of the foreign language teacher who has to promote familiarizing trained to foreign-language culture, form their abilities to understand and interpret the language and culture facts correctly, based on the formed valuable reference points and estimates of native and other countries culture. New political, economic and cultural realities made us to rethink the purpose of foreign language teaching in the pedagogical college. The questions of the language personality formation in the process of foreign languages teaching reached the predominating position. The language personality, gaining properties of cultures mediator, has to possess crosscultural competencefor productive cross-cultural interaction. Having analyzed scientific works of the Russian and foreign scientists, the author reveals a contradiction between the existing need of society for foreign language teachers who are effectively capable to interact with representatives of other cultures and insufficient readiness of vocational education system for formation of cross-cultural competence of pedagogical college students. Forms, means and methods of work of cross-cultural competence formation of future foreign language teachers in teacher training college are considered in the article.
