Annotation |
The article is devoted to the analysis of ideas of “patriotism” and “patriotic education” in different periods of society development. The purpose of this article is to study theoretical aspects of the problem of patriotic education as a priority of educational policy. To achieve this goal, we used the methods of scientific literature analysis, synthesis of philosophical and pedagogical provisions for definition of the essence of the phenomenon studied. The article reveals the content of the concepts of “patriotism” and “patriotic education”, their components and principles in modern conditions. The studies show that in the early stages of mankind patriotism was spontaneous. Awareness and understanding of this concept as a social phenomenon preceded its basic availability in practical activities of people. In Russia, the problem of formation of personality of patriotism and patriotic education was associated with a conscious choice of the ideals of personality. In the Soviet period, the concepts of “patriotism” and “patriotic upbringing” were processed through the characteristics of the phenomenon of “socialist patriotism” as the highest moral feeling; moral and political principle; complex moral quality or aggregate of feelings, principles and qualities. In the 1990s, the problem of patriotic education of youth almost fell out of the field of teacher’s attention that was due to the need to amend the content. The specifics of today shows that patriotic education has become a priority direction of the state and educational policy. The laws, programs and other documents adopted in recent years confirm it. The purpose of the education system is to assure the preservation and dissemination of national culture, education of the careful attitude to the historical and cultural heritage of the country, respect for the rights and freedoms of the individual, etc.
