Annotation |
It is a known fact that support of the cognitive process which occurs in students’ minds, the process of representation, storage, elaboration, interpretation and reproduction of new knowledge creates conditions for more effective teaching in professional foreign language communication. The article considers linguistic and didactic aspects of the cognitive approach to define educational content of teaching communication in foreign languages. It leads to a process of singling out particular units (professional concepts which form students’ professional outlook) in the structure of educational content. This new unit is defined as a “representative text”. Introduction of the term into the conceptual framework of linguodidactics allows accentuating mental processes, in other words, processes of representation, comprehension and storage of newly received knowledge. The author attempts to present and substantiate principles for selecting representative texts. These principles are correspondence of a professional text corpus and correspondence within specific areas of communication. Specific character of each principle in the context of cognitive reading of a problem is examined. The article determines that the main goal of the teaching process in Technical University is to prepare a foreign language speaking professional on the basis of forming students’ professional concept spheres. It is precisely in this paradigm foreign language is perceived as teaching equipment and can fully carry out its cognitive function.
