In the review, the pedagogical community is presented with the Great thematic dictionary
on education and pedagogy prepared by the great specialist in pedagogy and pedagogical
lexicography methodology, Doctor of Pedagogy, professor, Corresponding Member of the
Russian Academy of Education (RAO), Valentin Mikhailovich Polonsky. The edition can be rightly
considered as one of the most innovative and timely publications in the pedagogical literature of
recent years: it is built on a thematic rather than alphabetical and subjective principle, with an
orderly conceptual and terminological apparatus. The dictionary contains more than 6000 entries
including new concepts and terms. In the peer-reviewed work, considerable attention is paid to
the selection and description of concepts and categories closely related to the economic, political,
social and cultural spheres of life, with the sciences adjacent to pedagogy: psychology, philosophy,
sociology, culture, biology, which gives readers the opportunity to understand the essence of
educational processes.
