Annotation The relevance of the problem under study is determined by the modern national educational ideal, which proclaims creativity as one of the basic values of Russian society. Therefore, the problem of developing the creative abilities of students is today in the center of attention of many researchers and practitioners working in the field of education. Russian State Pedagogical University named after A. I. Herzen, who celebrates its 225th anniversary in 2022, is also included in the solution of this problem. Herzen scientists not only singled out the essential and specific features of creativity and creative abilities, but also determined the foundations for their formation. One of the conditions for the formation of creative abilities is the readiness of the teacher to implement this process. Therefore, the purpose of our study was to study the motivational-value aspect of the readiness of elementary school teachers to form the ability to improvise. The hypothesis of the study lies in the assumption that elementary school teachers are poorly oriented – both in terms of value and information – in the formation of the ability to improvise. The subject of the study is the motivational-value aspect of the readiness of elementary school teachers to form the ability to improvise. The reference method in the study was a survey of 100 primary school teachers in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region. To process the obtained data, methods of quantitative and qualitative analysis were used, as well as methods of descriptive statistics using the Excel 7.0 program. The results obtained indicate that elementary school teachers objectively have an interest in the problem of developing the ability to improvise. Most of the teachers who took part in the study recognize the need to develop creative abilities in younger students, but do not see improvisation among them. Respondents also demonstrated insufficient understanding of the organization of the process of developing the ability to improvise in younger students in practice. Thus, the assumption about the weak orientation of teachers in the formation of the ability to improvise in the process of research was confirmed.
Key words creativity, creative abilities, ability to improvise, readiness for professional activity, teacher’s readiness to form the ability to improvise, motivational-value component of the teacher’s readiness to form the ability to improvise
