For modern higher education, the problem of the identity formation of a professional, who possesses
the necessary competencies and is in demand on the labor market, is topical. The formation of professional
identity of a future journalist is directly related not only to a successful career, but also to the harmonious
self-actualization of the personality in the profession. The motivation and value component of professional
identity is considered within the framework of journalism pedagogy as a unified process of training and education.
The purpose of the work is to analyze the motivation and value component of the professional identity
of a future journalist, taking into account the results of theoretical and empirical research, and to characterize
the pedagogical conditions for the actualization of this component. The research is conducted in the interdisciplinary
framework of pedagogy and psychology. Axiological and culturological approaches are involved in
emphasizing the values of national culture and the self-value of an individual. Competence approach has allowed
to reveal a set of knowledge and skills, stipulating the professional identity formation. The results of the
study are based on the methods of observation and survey, methods of determining the status of professional
identity. 164 journalism students of St. Petersburg State University have participated in the anonymous empirical
study. The peculiarities of the journalist’s professional identity formation in the pedagogical process were
revealed. The sociocultural factor of professional identity formation, accumulating the cause-and-effect paradigm
\"values – goal – setting – professional activity\", is indicated as fundamental in professional education.
The analysis of the problem study has demonstrated the ambiguous and complex content of the motivational
and value component of professional identity, which is characterized by identity, integrity of the past, present
and future, as well as the continuity of transformations. It includes external and internal motivation; professional
rituals; professional image as an internal benchmark; norms and values of both professional community
and society. The correlation of professional identity with the possibility assessment, realizing a wide range of
creative motives has been found. The motivational nature of professional identity has been revealed, which
makes special demands on the content of training programs and the personality of the teacher, who transmits
ideal constructs of the profession. The study has practical significance for journalists who are actively mastering
professional activity with accompanying factors of dissatisfaction and absence of demand. The prospects
of the study are related to the multilevel system of professional identity, which includes, in addition to the
motivational and value component, also a cognitive and behavioral component. |
