Digitalization of the education system opens more opportunities for students and teachers. But the rationale for the use of information technology, special applications in education in particular, is still an actual topic. The purpose of this work is to identify the effectiveness of using the GeoGebra application in order to minimize the time needed to solve problems. The hypothesis of this study is that using the GeoGebra can significantly reduce the time spent on solving problems. In the course of the research (the study of students’ activities through observation, consideration of the products of their activities, statistical methods), the obvious features of using a mathematical application have been identified. In the described pedagogical experiment, two groups are compared who performed the same task in probability theory and mathematical statistics. One group used a regular calculator, while the other used the GeoGebra Graphing Calculator mobile application. The collected quantitative data, expressed in minutes spent on solving the problem, are analyzed using the Mann-Whitney U-test. The results obtained confirm the hypothesis put forward: the use of the GeoGebra in solving problems can significantly reduce time costs. This is because interactive visualization of mathematical models allows students to analyze conditions faster, experiment with parameters, and find optimal solutions. For example, instant recalculation of data when variables change reduces routine calculations, focusing on the key stages of the task. In addition, dynamic interaction with objects in GeoGebra contributes to a deeper understanding of relationships, which reduces the likelihood of errors and the need for repeated analysis. Thus, the integration of this tool into the learning process not only optimizes time resources, but also increases the effectiveness of learning. In general, a software tool like GeoGebra is a powerful tool for solving mathematical problems that can be used by both teachers and students.
