The article considers the formation process of the literature and art almanac of the Primorsky
Region, which in the 1940s–1950s had the title Sovietskoe Primorye (now it is called Literary
Vladivostok). The first publications of the almanac occurred in the difficult years of the Great Patriotic
War. Using unique archival sources, the author shows who and how prepared publications of the
almanac Sovietskoe Primorye, what information and why it was published on its pages, what was the
role and importance of the almanac for the civil and military population of the region that was declared,
in fact, “not at war front”. The author pays special attention to the views of the Primorsky region party
representatives and state leaders on the new literature and art publication.
