Annotation The article deals with such social phenomena as justice, envy and revenge which are considered a result of natural and social evolution. The author reveals their natural and social background, their correlation as well as negative and positive roles in social evolution, offers precise definitions of these phenomena and underlines that the main function of justice phenomenon is self-preservation of a group. The author offers a classification of subjects, objects of envy and its varieties. Conflicts and crimes as well as revolutions and wars are social consequences of envy. At the same time, eradication of envy will neutralize the desire for competition and deprive humanity of one of the incentives for development. The author differentiates between revenge, caused by injustice, and revenge, caused by envy. In addition, the author analyzes the phenomenon of ressentiment, its social and natural background and notes that the delay of reaction that occurs during ressentiment is a product of evolution.
