Annotation The article actualizes the idea of international students’ assistance by fostering a supporting educational environment at the university. Three main types of assistance are grounded: didactic assistance focused on the learning process; medical and psychological assistance as the prevention and solution of emotional and health problems; sociocultural assistance dealing with adaptation to a new environment. The structure of the educational environment and providing diverse assistance to foreigners by means of spatial-objective, didactic and social components are presented. The social component that unites all subjects of the educational process, their positions and relations between them, is highlighted as the main one. All participants in the educational process: university management, international office, teachers, curators, educational department, student dormitories, psychological service, volunteering students and international students themselves are shown as the subjects in students’ assistance. The group survey of teachers of the Interstate Educational Institution of Higher Education “Belarusian-Russian University” resulted in the following conclusions. Most teachers are aware of international students’ problems and assist them. The most popular strategies of didactic assistance are explaining details of self-directed work to students, using lecture presentations and encouraging participation in individual consultations
