Annotation The article considers the problem of the basic moral ideasformation – good and evil. Using picture and interrogation techniques, the authors have studied the brightness, completeness, generalization and stability of images of good and evil and their interconnected structural components of images – cognitive, emotional and behavioral. Based on the results of processing the obtained data, conclusions were drawn about the following features of the views of primary schoolchildren about good and evil: ideas of the majority of primary schoolchildren about good and evil are most often based on their own experience, on cartoons and films, but not on books that have been read. The basis of ideas about good and evil among younger students is based on ideas about the morality of actions, most of the subjects are at a basic level of ideas about good and evil; the concepts of good and evil in younger students are incomplete, poorly generalized, unstable, but vivid; there is a gap between the cognitive, emotional, and behavioral components of the notions of good and evil; the subjects are weakly expressed empathy and compassion for the heroes of works of art and people around them; most subjects lack ambivalence in the ideas of good and evil, based on a weak analysis of the causes of people’s actions.
