Annotation The authors examine the seasonal dynamics of carbon dioxide production by the Selenga delta area soils. The soil temperature plays a key role in changes of the CO2 emission rate during the entire vegetative season, whereas a relationship between soil respiration intensity and humidity is relevant only at the beginning of the vegetative season. Meadow soils during the growing season showed the maximum CO2 level emissions – up to 45 g CO2/m2 per day. For soddy forest soils this indicator did not exceed 34 g CO2/ m2 per day during the entire monitoring period. The total seasonal maximum emission of carbon dioxide occurs during the maximal plant growth or coincides with the intensive plant residues in the soil.
