The author studies the role of the system approach to the methods of teaching Russian as a
foreign language. In this discipline, the term system (systematicity) is one of the basic categories
treated as a set of basic components of the educational process, determining the selection of teaching
materials, forms and methods of presenting them in class. The article examines some of the problems
and peculiarities of teaching the Russian language lexis to foreign students.
