Annotation The article covers the analysis of aging as a human life cycle phase from the viewpoint of biology, psychology, and sociology. Thus, old age is considered to have a complex and ambiguous definition resulting from physiological, psychosocial, economic, cultural, historical and other aspects. The article describes erotological and sociological researches of Russian and foreign scientists where old age and aging as a life cycle phase are proved to include interdependence and influence of biological, psychological and social factors connected with an individual lifestyle, its age variability, personal differences that happen in terms of aging, and community relief level. It also considers the importance of external factors such as socio-economic, cultural and other aspects which have influence on aging of a human being and his involvement in a socio-demographical group of senior citizens. The author analyzes negative and positive individual behavior patterns in old age. It is mentioned that in modern conditions the first model has a priority, but positive patterns and factors of their active implementation should also be emphasized. Hence, the special focus of the article is on social aspects of aging and factors of successful adaptation in old age.
