Annotation The formation of universal competences, defined by the requirements of the federal state educational standards of higher education, is not sufficiently exposed in the psychological and pedagogical literature. It leads to the development of new approaches to the educational programs design aimed at training specialists with a sustainable and advanced level of general and professional culture. The article shows that the mechanism for the formation of universal competencies is transdisciplinary, which, on the one hand, is a characteristic of universal competencies, on the other hand, an over-subject characteristic of professional activity. The purpose of research is to demonstrate the need for inclusion the transdisciplinary modules in educational programs as a means of forming universal competencies. The theoretical and methodological basis of the study are systemic and competence-based approaches. The article demonstrates the need for inclusion of transdisciplinary modules in the educational programs that being a system-forming element of the educational program organizational structure determine the professional and personal growth of Master students, providing integrity, interdisciplinarity, and integrativeness of the educational program. Transdisciplinary module “Man – Information” implies development of informational and communicative skills, informative and educational environment focused on generating knowledge, organizing the educational process by means of the life-cycle knowledge. The module description includes requirements for learning outcomes, module structure, informative and technological aspects.
