Annotation The main basic factors of the modern educational environment of young scientists that form a special professional eco-niche of the most conservative type of activity – scientific research are considered. Both the format of the structure of the specified environment (in the areas of relations: with the supervisor, who is working on the postgraduate program; with young scientists who are studying at the graduate school or working at the Institute; with scientific employees working in the laboratory) and the key object were chosen. The authors ‘ have chosen centered system approach or eco-approach, used in many different scientific fields, allows them to identify the Central object (formation of young scientists, or rather young scientists as a social stratum) and comprehensively consider its relationship with the environment. Each of the three isolated areas of relations is described in relative detail, and the area of positive and negative current trends is highlighted by the example of training graduate students in a specific laboratory of economic and social geography. A reliable scientific reserve of safety at the Institute (professionalism of the older generation, maintaining traditions, the presence of a doctoral dissertation council, a journal of the status of the higher education institution, joint educational departments with the city’s universities, etc.), the activity of the youth stratum of the Institute as the basic factors that allow the reproduction of the Institute’s personnel potential. Due attention is paid to the domestic institutional environment, which determines the current status of research activities (the macro-environment of the existence of domestic science). The main reasons for the low proportion of young researchers in Russian science are formulated.
