Annotation The problem of state regulation of young people’s, especially of young professionals’ employment in today’s socio-economic conditions is obvious, since the issue of youth and general population employment is the key to a market economy. It is important to consider social workers’ training and further employment. This formulates the subject, the object, aims and objectives of this study. The author analyzes the following issues: social and professional adaptation of young people, legal regulation of this population category employment, the role of competency and qualification to ensure young specialists’ adaptation, specific conditions of social work in the city of Mariupol employment sphere, regulation of employment of university graduates majoring in social work. The author describes particular career-oriented activities based on the experience of opening a new specialty related to social work, as well as issues related to the students’ attitude to the new specialty and its efficiency in the region. The author gives a comprehensive review of the problem of social work specialists’ employment regulation in socio-economic conditions of the industrial region. These results may be of interest to theorists and practitioners in the field of social work.
