Annotation Currently, modern education involves a change in the motivational and semantic setting of teachers and students, focuses on joint search activity, a variety of forms and methods that enrich the motives of teaching and expanding the motivational sphere of individual students. The problems of modernization of modern education meet the use of such a developing method of learning as heuristic conversation. The author considers heuristic conversation as one of the perspective methods of development of pupils. Heuristic conversation is a system of logically related questions. According to the author, heuristic conversation has a number of advantages in the structure of methods of teaching Russian. The use of heuristic conversation contributes to the development of thinking, the formation of cognitive independence and the acquisition of experience in solving problem problems. The author sees a contradiction between the possibilities of heuristic conversation, on the one hand, and the lack of demand for this method in school practice by teachers of the Russian language, on the other. Based on the survey of Russian language teachers, the author reveals ideas about the method of “heuristic conversation on a linguistic topic” among Russian language teachers and comes to the conclusion that 72 % of respondents realize the importance of the method of “heuristic conversation” in their practice, while only 41 % of teachers use this method in the classroom. And only 18 % of teachers believe that the possession of the method of “heuristic conversation” is a necessary condition for their professional development.
