Annotation The article actualizes the problem of the national education system modernization, taking into account the provisions of the National project “Education” and the Gender Strategy of the Russian Federation. The author reveals the problem of gender education of University students capable of supporting gender-role socialization of the younger generations. Research methods are: study and analysis of scientific literature on the problem, Internet resources, normative documentation, dissertations; comparison, generalization. Analyzing the content of pedagogical research, the author emphasizes the presence of two aspects of gender education consideration (sex-role and gender-role). The author emphasizes the need to clarify the concepts of “gender”, “gender approach”, “gender education” in accordance with the requirements of modern education that meets the challenges of the time. According to the academic baccalaureate curricula, the possibilities of gender education in the study of academic subjects are emphasized. The author comes to the conclusion that the problem of gender education of University students enrolled in pedagogical profiles of training remains open and requires further solutions at the theoretical and practical levels. The author calls the integration of gender issues into the content of academic disciplines, elective disciplines and pedagogical practices in the unity of psychological, pedagogical and methodological aspects as promising ways to solve the problem in pedagogical education.
