The article is devoted to the actual pedagogical problem – the development of social creativity
as the most important systemic characteristics of the personality of a social work specialist. Within
the framework of this problem, some methodological approaches (K. A. Abulkhanova-Slavskaya,
L. I. Bozhovich, S. L. Rubinstein, V. S. Bibler, A. N. Luk, N. F. Talyzina, etc.) to the study of creative abilities of a person as a basis for the development of professional competence of a future specialist
are considered. The personal qualities that contribute to the creative process are identified. The main
components of the individual’s creative potential are analyzed in conjunction with the identified criteria
of social creativity: social creativity (the ability of the individual to introduce elements of novelty into the
process of social activity), socially transformative orientation (innovative methods and means of social
activity, development of new solutions to the problem), novelty (individual style of professional activity).
The role and value of creative professional and personal qualities focused on self-development and
self-education, development of intelligence and creative abilities of future specialists are shown. The results
of research (questioning, testing, supervision) among students of the direction “Social work” of the
Buryat State University reflecting the main characteristics of social and creative development of future
specialists are given. The final data of the study indicate a sufficient level of development of social and
creative personal qualities and abilities of graduates, which are the result of a purposeful and systematic
process of development of social and creative personality of future specialists of social work.
