Annotation One of the most important tasks of the education system today is to provide schools with qualified young people. The proposed ways of solving the problem of shortage of teachers relate to different spheres of public life from economy and politics to structural changes in the education system, and integrated approaches are proposed. But any transformation, however well worked and justified they were, will be little effective or useless without a value-motivating criterion for the selection of students of the pedagogical profession. The aim of the article is to study the formation of this criterion, analyze the identified problems and propose ways of forming a value relationship to the profession of teacher. The methods of investigation used are diagnostic method, analysis of scientific literature on the identified problem and analysis of diagnostic results. The study showed that with high diagnostic criteria of active pedagogical position, professional-pedagogical orientation of the person, availability of necessary professionalmoral qualities, students of the first year of the Pedagogical College show low results in relation to teaching work, which is the primary reason for not working in the chosen (obtained) specialty. It is critically important to form a value attitude towards the pedagogical profession, starting from the first year of college, and consolidate it at the personal level of each student, making the value of the teaching profession an individual’s personal value, to promote the inclusion of a value relationship to the profession of teacher in the personality structure of the student. In order to effectively form a value relationship to the pedagogical profession, the use of an individual mentoring system is proposed, the rationale for the proposed method is given. Application of the individual mentoring system to solve the value relationship to the teaching profession can be used both in specialized secondary institutions and in higher education institutions, With the necessary adjustment will organically complement the educational component of education in high school. In conclusion, there are conclusions about the prospects of introducing an individual mentoring system in a teacher training college, which lead to believe that this system can have a significant impact on the problem of staffing schools both quantitatively and qualitatively.
