Annotation The article deals with the definition of ‘personality’s autonomy’ in philosophy, pedagogy and psychology. The author analyzes different points of view on the problem expressed both by native and foreign scientists. The author shows the significance of a person’s autonomy for personal development, preserving psychological health, and providing informational and psychological safety in case of a negative impact of information environment. The author pays special attention to psychological understanding of the problem of correlation of internal psychological characteristics and external environmental influences, where autonomy appears a significant characteristic of the individual.
