Annotation The current strategy of social work is focused on the fact that persons with disabilities can optimize their efforts to change the situation. In line with this priority are the models of social work practice, which allow social workers to help people with disabilities to create and realize their personal and social resources. Among these models, a vitalist model of social work is of special interest, its methodological basis is a sociological concept of vitality of a man, his individual and social subjectivity. Analyzing the disability issues, a number of new approaches are taken into account. First, some features of the living space of the disabled people environment are differentiated. Second, groups of indicators related to the characteristics of human life potential are distinguished. These approaches are considered to be perspective due to the fact that in the 21st century the problems of formation, preservation and rehabilitation of the vital forces of men, especially people with disabilities, are very crucial in the systems of social protection, social security and social practice.
