Annotation The article analyzes the semantic content of teacher’s values, which is manifested in their professional culture, the content and the delimitation of professional and general teacher’s culture. The purpose is to show education as an integral, generalizing value of people’s spirit and spiritual culture and separately standing specialist. The characteristics of pedagogical culture in the past and present are given. Professional teacher’s culture is considered in the context of his professional competence and the reconstitution of pedagogical values, such as culture of pedagogical system, pedagogical humane ways of interaction, linguistic and cultural content of education, means of learning, awakening and creative thinking, etc. In terms of reorienting of education to human and national values to the individual interests a function of professional teacher’s competence in starching of meaning is actualized. The essence of professional culture depends on the ways of implementation of activities by the teacher and consists of elements, which greatly affect the nature and quality of his professional activity. Special attention is paid to selfimprovement as a way of gaining of common cultural and professional personal meaning by the teacher. We identified elements of the process of self-education, forms of self-education in the work of creative groups of teachers, and also specificity of teacher’s activity with the highest level of professional identity.
