Annotation Assessment of the quality of education is currently one of the most important issues concerning the development of not only the education system, but the country’s economy as a whole. The need to change approaches to qualification assessment is one of the main topics for discussion in the scientific and pedagogical community. There is a gap between the requirements for the personnel’s qualification and the requirements for knowledge, skills and competencies acquired as a result of education. Assessment of competencies is a new challenge for professional education, which cannot be solved only by means of traditional control methods and assessment tools. A system of new tools for efficient external quality assessment starts to emerge in Russia. It includes such mechanisms and tools as different accreditation systems, and innovative projects, such as “WorldSkills”. This article reveals one of the forms of final attestation of professional educational institution graduates. It analyzes the principles of realizing a practice orientation character at the state final attestation of students in the form of “WorldSkills”. The “WorldSkills” demonstrational examination defines the level of the graduates’ skills and knowledge according to International requirements. Successful passing of the examination in this format means the readiness of the student for professional activity in the chosen field.
