| Annotation |
The article is devoted to the 80th anniversary of a remarkable Zabaikalsky teacher and scientist Igor Ivanovich Kirillov. The article notes the great role of Professor I. I. Kirillov in the preparation of highly qualified teaching staff for educational and scientific institutions of the region. The scientific potential of the researcher with a world reputation is reflected and assessed in the writings of historians and archaeologists. However, this article pays special attention to the characterization of his pedagogical activities, which has not yet been fully and objectively analyzed in research literature. The article is based on unpublished and published memoirs of Igor Ivanovich’s followers, materials from his family archives, and the scholar’s manuals. It is emphasized that Kirillov’s pedagogical talent allowed him to prepare the faculty of dedicated professionals, and lay many traditions in the organization of educational and research activities, which are carefully preserved by the current faculty at the department of history. The article emphasizes that in the light of the forthcoming anniversary, the department plans a series of events, headlined “Man and His Time”, which are a tribute to the memory of Igor Ivanovich Kirillov, a prominent educator and scientist.
