Annotation The article reveals the problem of harmony of the scientific and spiritual in the professional training of future teachers, the significance of its solution for the realization of the spiritual and moral direction of upbringing. The author analyzes the approaches to the solution of this problem in various historical periods of the development of national education. The characteristic of the solution of this problem in pre-revolutionary, Soviet and modern Russian periods of national education is given; the best domestic traditions in education and professional training of a future teacher are distinguished. The results of the research among schoolchildren and students studying in the direction of “Pedagogical Education”, which include questions on literature, history, spiritual culture, natural sciences, which, in our opinion, constitute the basis for an integral picture of the world, are presented. The author comes to the conclusion that the modern system of education and professional training does not pay sufficient attention to the problem of harmony between the scientific and spiritual; emphasizes the need for a complex comprehensive approach to the professional training of a future teacher, which should be based on the solution of the problem of harmony of the scientific and spiritual. The cultural approach to education, the best domestic traditions, dialogue of cultures and continuity, which is being developed by our contemporaries, is relevant in this regard.
