Annotation The paper presents an elective course for the 10th–11th form students aimed at formation of students’ cultural competence when studying phraseological units in the course of Russian. It is based on system-activity, competence-based and reflexive approaches, theory of linguistic personality developed by Yu. N. Karaulov, T. B. Radbil’s model of linguistic mentality and L. V. Cherepanova’s concept of cultural competence. We consider national-cultural specificity of phraseological units in the system at verbal-semantic, linguo-cognitive, axiological and motivation-pragmatic levels of linguistic mentality. The article describes personal, metasubject, substantive goals, objectives, expected results and methods of training within the context of elective course. The expected results of training include not only the acquisition of knowledge on the reflection of Russian culture and history in Russian phraseological units, but also the development of skills and modes of action that would enable the students to reveal national and cultural specific character of phraseological units. The article also describes the linguoculturological reflexive cognitive tasks allowed to develop the schoolchildren’s cultural competence during their learning of phraseological units. The function of the tasks is to estimate and to analyze the national-cultural specificity of phraseological units at verbal-semantic, linguo-cognitive, axiological and motivation-pragmatic levels of language mentality.
