Annotation The relevance of studying the university students’ subjectivity is predicated upon social demand for the formation of activity, independence and commitment of specialists during their training. At the scientific level, the relevance involves the need for in-depth study of subject and subjectivity. The problem of this study consists in identifying the stage of formation of students’ subjectivity. The purpose of this article is to present the results of the empirical study of undergraduate students’ subjectivity that was made within the eco-psychological approach towards psyche development (V. I. Panov), which had never been applied before. According to this approach, a man during his development as a subject goes in the continuum from a carrier of spontaneous activity to a subject of creativity. The formation of subjectivity takes place as a part of the interaction process between man and environment during mastering an activity. The research was carried out at the premises of Transbaikal State University. The sample group includes 178 respondents. The parameters of students’ subjectivity diagnostics are: activity, independence in learning activity, self-management, and hardiness. The empirical method of the study is testing. The authors applied A. A. Volochkov’s Learning Activity Questionnaire, E. Yu. Mandrikova’s Activity Self-management Questionnaire and S. Maddi’s Hardiness Test adjusted by D. A. Leontiev and E. I. Rasskazova. As a result of the study, it was found that the generality of the sample group’s students, who learn under the standard conditions without considering a teacher’s required special activity directed at training and developing students’ subjectivity characteristics, are on the fourth stage of subjectivity’s formation – the stage of voluntary performance under a teacher’s external control.
