Annotation The article analyzes the ambiguous social status of the disabled, who are the subjects of equal rights and at the same time of the objects of marginalization, and discusses the barriers of different levels of disability. The study justifies the application of social-constructionist approach to conduct research on the social status and the level of integration of the disabled into society, as well as on the formation of social policy. It examines objective and subjective factors that influence the success of the integration of the disabled into society and demonstrates the advantages of social-constructionist approach as a basis for the social policy aimed at integrating the disabled into society. The article explores the content, process and results of the processes of integration of the disabled into society in the city of Moscow and justifies the basic directions of social support for people with disabilities.
